Does my company need a web site?
Let's say that you own or manage a business. You're planning your advertising
budget. You plan on spending a fair amount of money on magazine and
/ or newspaper ads. These are effective, but you know that their effectiveness
only last for a month or so. You've thought of paying for a commercial
on radio or TV, but they are kind of expensive. What medium is available
that is lasting, can have a lot of "viewers", and is relatively
inexpensive? Yes, you guessed it, the Internet.
For about $250 you can get your own domain (www.yourcompany.com) and
then for another $250 you can get a few pages made for your site. Of
course, the more money you spend, the fancier the site can be.
On your site you can provide some free advice regarding your field
of expertise. You can ask your visitors to fill out surveys. You can
provide coupons that are only available on the web. Your web site can
be a long-term marketing tool. You could even get into mail-order. There
are endless possibilities.
